Biography

I was born and raised in the Denver Colorado area.  Throughout my life I have been active in many sports and during high school I primarily played Lacrosse.  I have a wonderful family that consists of my wife Melissa, my three sons (Austin – 8, Cody – 7, Tyler – 2), and my daughter (Ashley – 5).  We love the outdoors and being active.  Over the past several years, I have participated in several triathlons.  In addition, I love the mountains and am an active hiker.  I also continue to play several sports when I have the time; mostly racquetball, basketball, and golf.

I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Accounting from Brigham Young University in 2008.  I had the opportunity to intern with both EchoStar and Ernst and Young while at BYU.  I also earned my CPA in the summer of 2008.  I then went on to receive my Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in the spring of 2013 and am currently an assistant professor at Florida State University.  I am teaching financial accounting at FSU and my research focuses on financial accounting, corporate governance, and auditing topics.
